However Zoo Days are possible at certain times of the winter. Encounter over 1,000 astonishing animals this winter at Chessington on selected dates in November and December. Winter Breaks Celebrate Christmas at Chessington this year with a Father Christmas Sleepover on 4, 11 and 18-24 December. These festive breaks include entry into the SEA Life Centre and Zoo and an overnight stay at the Chessington Resort Hotel plus Father Christmas hats for the kids, character breakfast and a Christmas movie club. Or book a Winter Mini Break between 27 December - 2 January. These magical breaks also include entry into the Zoo and SEA LIFE Centre and overnight stay at the onsite themed hotel, plus entry into Hampton Court Palace. ZOOExplore the 'Trail of the Kings' jungle themed animal experience enabling families to get up close and personal with one of Europe's most successful West Lowland Gorilla families and come eye to eye with our two young Sumatran Tigers, and majestic Asiatic Lions and Persian Leopards! All this and much, much more in the Zoo, including the splash-tastic Sea Lion Bay with daily shows, the Penguin Cove with feeding times and our fun Children's Zoo with baby goats, sheep and rabbits and then go underwater at SEALIFE and explore 1000s of species of fish as well as sharks and rays. There is also a sea lion enclosure, which features shows several times a day, and Creepy Caves, a reptile house. Zookeepers on site care for the animals, many of which are endangered, and there is an active breeding programme. Historically a zoo, the theme park aspect of the attraction was added in 1987 with the installation of several rides and has expanded greatly since then.
